Beautiful and elegant in their design, our Driftwood Tables are truly amazing, not just as a piece of furniture but in their whole construction.
Firstly the perfect driftwood has to be chosen to go into each individual base. The chosen pieces are bolted together, forming the base, before the whole piece is kiln dried, making sure that it is as strong and sturdy as it can possibly be. It is then re-bolted, ensuring that there is no room for movement, before it is perfectly levelled so that the glass sits comfortably on top. Because of the technique that is used to make and dry these tables, they are suitable to be used in conservatories and can be placed on floors with underfloor heating.
Over the years collecting the Driftwood has become more difficult and we now use a reclaimed wood called Molave Wood. All my designed pieces are made in the Cebu Province and in the 60's the government decided to fell thousands of trees for no reason and there they lay till now. The making process is still the same and locals are still provided with an income, this time by foraging land and not the sea. Molave wood is much stronger and heavier and can be used outdoors which is quite exciting. I am yet to find the perfect outdoor table top, but i'm working on it !
Each table is hand crafted in this way no matter how big or small and the glass top affords you the opportunity to gaze through into the wood as you dine.
Depending on the size of the table, the glass tops are made from 8mm,10mm or 6mm toughened safety glass and are heavy enough to sit on top of the base without the need for fixings. Glass top prices have increased so much we are encouraging our customers to source their own, we will of course help with the specifications but sourcing you might save buying locally.
The bases are available to buy without the glass top, enabling you to have a piece made to your own specifications.
